ORLANDO, FL. –The U.S. Department of Transportation has named Orlando International as one of only ten airports in the nation, four in Florida, to offer daily commercial air service to Havana,Cuba. The other Florida cities selected include Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Tampa.
“As has been proven with our charter operations to Cuba, there is demand for such a daily service from Central Florida,”says Vicki Jaramillo, Senior Director of Marketing and Air Service Development for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.”We have seen outstanding community support and trust that it will continue with our first scheduled daily service to the island nation later this fall.”
JetBlue is the airline chosen to fly from Orlando International.
While tourism is at the heart of travel to Central Florida it will not be the reason for travel to and from Cuba. Tourism is not one of the pre-approved reasons for travel between the United States and Cuba. Approved reasons include; visiting family, religious reasons, educational and orcultural exchanges.
