— Passengers Increased 50 Percent and
Aircraft Operations Increased 18 Percent, Year-Over-Year —
San Bernardino, Calif. (February 27, 2026) – San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) achieved significant milestones in 2025 in serving commercial airline passengers and supporting aircraft operations, marking records for both year-over- year (YOY).
In 2025, SBD notched a record year, serving more than 62,000 passengers, which is a 50 percent increase over the previous year. After three years of Breeze Airways service at SBD and nonstop flights to San Francisco International Airport and Provo Airport in Utah, new and returning travelers are finding how easy it is to travel through the Inland Empire airport.
The airport handled 68,830 aircraft landings and takeoffs in 2025, an 18 percent increase compared to 2024, also marking a new record. SBD’s five lines of business—commercial service, air cargo, business aviation, general aviation, and maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO)—all contributed to the YOY growth.
“Inland Empire residents and visitors are choosing San Bernardino International Airport for its convenience and affordability, and the record passenger activity in 2025 reflects this,” said Director of Aviation Mark Gibbs. “Additionally, increased flight activity last year shows that pilots, passengers, and businesses continue to choose SBD for their travel and aviation support needs.”
“SBD’s ongoing growth in passengers and aircraft operations illustrates the airport’s prominence and contributions in the Southern California market and how we are delivering opportunity as we continue to invest in the region,” Gibbs added.
SBD has evolved over the past 85 years in serving the local and regional community. Previously the Norton Air Force Base from 1942 to 1994, the airport is now a major economic engine and vital resource for the Inland Empire. With scheduled airline service, the nation’s three largest integrated air cargo carriers, Luxivair SBD, arguably the finest fixed base operator in the western United States, and significant MRO facilities, SBD and its valued partners create good-paying careers, welcome tourists, support business opportunities, and strengthen the region’s global connections.
IMPLAN analysis for SBD in 2024 includes over $5 billion in economic output and 18,693 direct jobs.
