SAN DIEGO, CA — March 25, 2026 – The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (Airport Authority) welcomes Daniel Kuperschmid to the Board of Directors. Mr. Kuperschmid currently serves as President and CEO of the San Diego Tourism Authority (SDTA) and was appointed by San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria.
“We welcome Daniel Kuperschmid to the Airport Authority Board,” said Airport Authority Interim Board Chair James Sly. “Mr. Kuperschmid brings a depth of experience and understanding of San Diego travel and tourism. His leadership and insight will be immensely helpful as we continue the development of the second phase of our new Terminal 1. The Airport Authority is extremely grateful to outgoing Board Chair Gil Cabrera for his dedicated service and leadership during his term.”

Mr. Kuperschmid was appointed to the board seat previously held by Mr. Cabrera, who recently resigned from the Board.
Mr. Kuperschmid’s appointment began on March 17, and he will serve the remainder of Mr. Cabrera’s term through January 31, 2027.
The Airport Authority is governed by a nine-member Board, with three additional members serving ex officio. Board members serve three-year terms and may be reappointed.
