San José, Calif. – San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) is introducing TSA PreCheck® Touchless Identity Verification, a new technology designed to make the security screening process faster, easier and more convenient for eligible travelers.

With Touchless ID, TSA PreCheck passengers who opt in can verify their identity at select security checkpoints without presenting a physical ID. Using secure facial comparison technology, travelers can move through identity verification more seamlessly while maintaining strong privacy protections.

The new capability reflects SJC’s continued investment in innovation and customer experience, particularly as the Airport prepares to welcome increased travel demand and major events in 2026 and beyond.

Which airlines at SJC participate in TSA PreCheck Touchless ID?

• Currently American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines are participating in Touchless ID at SJC.

What do I need to use Touchless ID?

• You must be enrolled in TSA PreCheck with a valid Known Traveler Number (KTN) and have a valid passport.

How do I opt in to TSA PreCheck Touchless ID?

• Add your KTN and passport information to your airline profile (via the airline’s website or mobile app).

If Touchless ID is available for a flight, travelers will be prompted to opt in—often during check-in or within the airline app. Always carry a physical ID as backup.

Participation in Touchless ID is optional. Travelers may choose to use their physical ID at any time, and images are used only for identity verification purposes in accordance with TSA privacy requirements. Photos and personal data are deleted within 24 hours of scheduled flight departure.
