San José, Calif. – San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) – the closest Airport to Levi’s® Stadium – is ready to welcome football fans and visitors traveling to the Bay Area this week, offering convenient access, reliable operations and a special parking promotion designed to make game-day travel simple and stress-free.
Yesterday, Feb. 1, SJC accommodated the arrival of the participating teams and league personnel. The Airport expects to welcome more than 230 additional commercial flights during the upcoming week as visitors arrive from across the country for one of the world’s largest sporting events. Airport teams are coordinating closely with airline, transportation and public safety partners to support smooth operations throughout the week.
- To support game day travel, SJC is offering a $15 all-day parking promotion on Sunday, Feb. 8. Whether they’re local, driving in from the Greater Bay Area or out of state, fans are encouraged to drive to SJC and park in Airport Lots 2 and 4, then use public transit to reach Levi’s Stadium. When combined with a VTA day pass, travelers can get to the game for less than $25 total — an affordable and convenient option that helps reduce congestion on game day.
- The City of San José, in partnership with LiveX.AI, has debuted AI-powered holograms of Mayor Matt Mahan and notable figures in local sports and athletics, including President of Sharks Sports and Entertainment, Jonathan Becher. These five AI-agents throughout the terminals – and in select locations across the city – will welcome the thousands of visitors expected to touch down at SJC throughout the week.
- Developed by San José-based tech startup Blueberry Technology, SJC will deploy BBGo Autonomous Personal Mobility Vehicles from Feb. 4-10 to supplement existing mobility services for travelers who may not require a wheelchair, but would benefit from additional support navigating the terminals during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
- By popular demand, SJC is also bringing back its complimentary Courtesy Carts* to assist travelers who need mobility support, helping fans move comfortably through the terminals during the busy travel week.
- Travelers passing through Terminal B can stop by Bay Sports Co., a newly opened retail store near Gate 18 featuring officially licensed sports apparel and gear – a perfect stop for fans heading to the Big Game or looking for last-minute sports merchandise – in addition to two “Hot Markets” pop-up retail units selling team merchandise: one in Terminal A near the entrance to the A+ walkway and one in Terminal B Bag Claim near the down escalator.
- Between Thursday, Feb. 5 and Monday, Feb, 9, select restaurants and bars in the terminals (including Gordon Biersch, Island Brews, Jim Stumps, Mi Casa Cantina, SJ Beer Union and Tap & Pour) will get in the sporting spirit by offering samplings and football-themed activations, games like Football Faceoff and Cornhole and commemorative giveaways and items for sale, such as koozies and pint glasses.
- Travelers will be treated to SJC Happy Tails sightings this week, in addition to live entertainment such as magician Dan Chan (Feb. 5 from 12-3 p.m., wandering between gates); dancer Sharat Lin (Feb. 5 from 4-6 p.m. and Feb. 9 from 12-2 p.m. at the Terminal A Skybridge) and pianist Kai Berger (Feb. 5 from 4-6 p.m. in Terminal B Baggage Claim).
- SJC has partnered with the Transit app to offer real-time shuttle bus tracking for passengers. Posters at each shuttle bus stop contain a QR code to download the Transit app, then users will be able to track the ETA of the SJC shuttle, VTA’s buses and light rail trains in real-time – just download and go!
- To further streamline the passenger experience, SJC has just introduced TSA PreCheck® Touchless Identity Verification at select security checkpoints. Eligible TSA PreCheck travelers who opt in can verify their identity using secure facial comparison technology, allowing them to move through the checkpoint without presenting a physical ID. Participation is optional, and travelers may use a traditional ID at any time. The technology enhances convenience while maintaining strong privacy protections and security standards.
- Departing after game day? SJC is known for curb to gate in minutes, but with the Big Game, it could be busier than usual. SJC encourages travelers to check flight status through airline apps and arrive at the Airport two hours before their scheduled departure to leave plenty of time to enjoy a bite and relax before flying. Travelers who have purchased an official commemorative Super Bowl program are reminded to take it to the checkpoint for screening instead of in checked bags, as it can set off alarms and create delays.
“Major events call for simple, reliable travel,” said San José City Manager Jennifer Maguire. “San José Mineta International Airport helps set the tone for a great experience by making it easy for visitors to arrive, move through the Airport, and enjoy everything our region has to offer.”
“As we welcome fans from around the nation, SJC is focused on delivering a reliable and welcoming experience that reflects the best of San José,” said San José Mayor Matt Mahan. “From easy access to affordable parking and transit options to a growing lineup of local retail, the Airport helps set the tone for a great sporting experience.”
“Our focus is on the details that matter to travelers: reliability, efficiency and a great customer experience,” said Mookie Patel, director of aviation at San José Mineta International Airport. “As we welcome visitors this week, SJC is ready to deliver the simple, dependable experience passengers expect.”
SJC consistently ranks among the most reliable airports in the nation. According to Cirium, a leading aviation analytics firm, SJC was recently ranked No. 1 in California and among the top 10 medium-sized airports globally for on-time performance, reinforcing its reputation as the Bay Area’s easiest and most dependable airport.
