Southwest Florida International Airport Implementing New Ground Transportation Management System

Nov 7, 2024 | News

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2024) – Effective Friday, Nov. 8, Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) will be implementing a new Ground Transportation Management System, which will give qualified drivers the opportunity to provide on-demand taxi service. It will also give RSW passengers a safe, regulated, high-quality option for their ground transportation needs when traveling from the airport.

All cars providing services need to be at least a 2018 or newer model in excellent condition, carry liability insurance and pass an ASE-certified inspection. Drivers must pass a background check, have a payment-processing app, wear proper attire and are subject to drug testing.

Zones, not meters, define rates at Southwest Florida International Airport. The Lee County Port Authority regulates the rates and providers cannot exceed the rates listed on the Taxicab Zone Map. Rates are valid for up to four passengers; each additional passenger is $10. There is no extra charge for child safety seats and service or crated animals. Rates include any toll charges and are regulated from Southwest Florida International Airport to your destination only.

On-demand transportation is available to serve all walk-up RSW customers, with no reservations required. If you choose, a reservation can be made here.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 10 million passengers in 2023 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. No ad valorem (property) taxes are used for airport operation or construction. For more information, visit flylcpa.com or facebook.com/flyRSW.
