FORT MYERS, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2019) – During December, 958,717 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Fla., an increase of 9.8 percent compared to December 2017. Year-end passenger traffic was up 6 percent compared to last year.
“December 2018 was the best December in the 36-year history of the airport and our performance for the year was a historic best with 9,373,178 passengers,” said Jeff Mulder, A.A.E., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority. “We appreciate the support of our airline partners in adding new markets and increasing flight schedules to meet the demand for travel to Southwest Florida.”
The traffic leader in December was Delta Air Lines with 165,344 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (149,892), Spirit (121,638), Frontier (118,516) and American (114,081).
Page Field saw 8,397 operations, a 15.2 percent increase from December 2017. In addition, nearly 3.2 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in December 2018.
