Twice-daily nonstops to Cleveland and Nashville

MILWAUKEE (November 5, 2017) – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele has announced that Southwest launched its new flights from General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) to both Cleveland and Nashville with a music celebration in the gate area this afternoon.

“With Milwaukee hosting the world’s largest music festival, it only makes sense that Southwest would connect our travelers with two other great music cities,” County Executive Abele said. “Whether it’s visiting the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland or the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Southwest’s nonstop flights, free checked bags and no change fees will be a big hit with travelers.”

Southwest Airlines has the most flights at MKE, with nonstop service to 22 cities, all on full-size Boeing 737 jets. Southwest flights can only be found and booked at southwest.com.

“Milwaukee travelers are invited to enjoy great low fares and friendly Southwest service while also supporting our hometown airport,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “The more that travelers use these new flights, the better chance we have at securing more new nonstop service for MKE in the future.”

Mitchell Airport offers nonstop flights to 50 destinations coast-to-coast, and 160 international destinations are available from Milwaukee with just one connection. MKE is served by Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, American, Apple Vacations, Delta, Frontier, Funjet Vacations, OneJet, Southwest, United, and Volaris. General Mitchell International Airport is owned by Milwaukee County and operated by the Department of Transportation, Airport Division, under the policy direction of the Milwaukee County Executive and the County Board of Supervisors.
