Ideal departure point for Florida destinations, Iceland and other European destinations;
Nation’s first airport with direct flights to up-and-coming hot spot, the Faroe Islands
Smart travelers in New York’s Hudson Valley and beyond have a secret. They know that Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, N.Y., is the departure point of choice when flying to several Florida destinations, Iceland, mainland Europe and a trendy tourism hot spot, the Faroe Islands. News coverage and interview requests about Stewart and its service are welcome!
Clean, uncrowded and located right off the New York State Thruway, Stewart International Airport is a convenient alternative to the chaos of New York City airports. And it is becoming even more attractive for fliers. Consider:
- In February, Breeze Airways will join the airport with flights to Orlando and Charleston, South Carolina.
- PLAY, the low-cost airline, began flights to Iceland and other points in Europe in 2022 from its own brand-new terminal at Stewart. The spring “shoulder season” in Iceland – when the weather is milder but before the summer rush – begins in May.
- In September, Atlantic Airways will resume the first-ever direct service from the United States to the Faroe Islands. Known as “Europe’s best-kept secret,” the islands sit between Iceland and Norway, north of Scotland.
Located only minutes from the junction of the New York State Thruway and Interstate 84, Stewart is easy to reach. It is closer to many parts of the region than LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy and Newark Liberty airports, and easy to reach without the traffic congestion headaches that the others inspire. Ample short- and long-term parking, located steps from the Stewart terminal, costs less than parking at other regional airports, including Westchester County Airport.
A news story, column or broadcast feature on the airport would be of great service to all, from avid travelers to occasional flyers. Please visit swfny.com and contact us for more information.
