May 27, 2023 | News

Twist Inc. is proud to introduce our newest Twist Aero brand product line of Ground Power Units. Our GPU line consists of Solid State, Point of Use Frequency Converters. Two models are currently offered, the 400 Hz 115 VAC and combination 400Hz 115 VAC/28.5 VDC. Diesel mobile and 180 KVA are being designed and will be part of Twist Aero’s GPU product line.

Ground Power Units are utilized at every airport in the world, as they convert power and frequency from the terminal into power that the aircraft can utilize when parked. There are several different types and sizes of GPUs for various aircraft. For example, smaller aircraft, like regional jets, typically require 28.5 VDC GPU units.

“The Twist Aero GPUs are designed for optimal quality, meeting MIL-STD-704F”, says Kali Ables, Account Manager for Twist. “The unit can withstand a load of 90 kW, 1.0 Power Factor at 55º C continuous, which is a major design requirement today”.

Some of the key features of the units include:

  • Magnetic Based Design
  • Solid State
  • Stainless Steel Frame w/ Aluminum panels
  • Gas Assist Lifted Main Panels on Front and Rear
  • External Access Filters
  • (2) 1200 CFM Blowers
  • Highly Engineered Airflow Cooling System
  • Diagnostic Features on HMI Controls

At the end of the month, Twist Aero’s line of GPUs will be UL 1012 approved and listed. There are already booked sales in the Continental US for 2019.
