Aug 6, 2023 | News

The Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) is pleased to announce that United Airlines will add seasonal nonstop service between George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas and Durango in 2019. The airline also announced the addition of seasonal nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Durango in 2019.

For Houston, one round-trip flight will operate each Saturday beginning June 8th through October 26th on a 76-seat Embraer E-175 aircraft.

Tickets for the new Houston route can be purchased at www.united.com now. The route will provide passengers with direct access to the greater Houston area, as well as connections throughout the southeastern United States and many destinations in Latin America.

“Residents of the Four Corners region have long called for nonstop flights to Houston,” said Director of Aviation Tony Vicari. “United Airlines has been a committed airline partner at DRO for many years, and we are excited to see them responding to traveler’s requests for additional nonstop destinations to and from Durango.”

Seasonal nonstop service to Houston further enhances the diversity of the route network available to over 370,000 travelers who utilize the Durango-La Plata County Airport annually. With service to a sixth major hub in Houston – the nation’s 15th busiest airport and a large United Airlines hub – passengers using DRO will have unprecedented access to connections both domestically and internationally.

For Chicago, one round-trip flight will operate each Saturday also beginning June 8th and through October 26th on a 70-seat, two-cabin Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft.

Tickets for the new route also are available at www.united.com now. The route will provide passengers with direct access to the greater Chicago area and other Midwest cities, as well as beneficial connections to the east coast and many international destinations.

“United Airlines’ decision to add seasonal Chicago and Houston service in 2019 further highlights the growing demand for air service in Southwest Colorado,” Vicari continued. “Colorado’s 5th busiest airport should see continued growth in the new year.”

In addition to seasonal nonstop Houston and Chicago service, United Airlines continues to operate daily flights between Durango and Denver International Airport (DEN) on a year-round basis.

United Airlines flights through Chicago, Denver, and Houston are available for booking at www.united.com.
