$750 million in future project contracts available for bidding over next two year

DETROIT (Feb. 6, 2026) The Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) invites local and national construction contractors, subcontractors and concessions owners to its upcoming construction and concessions outreach event on Monday, Feb. 23 at Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi.

The event will consist of two separate sessions. The morning session (9 a.m.-noon) will focus on construction projects, while the afternoon session (1-4 p.m.) will highlight concessionaire-related opportunities. Registration is required and will remain open through Thursday, Feb. 19.

“With this outreach event, we are creating a vital bridge for local and national businesses to ensure that all, from small businesses to industry leaders, have an opportunity to share their expertise and help us maintain an airport environment that everyone enjoys,” said WCAA CEO Chad Newton.

This one-day, two-session informational event is specifically designed to provide interested businesses with details regarding project opportunities available through WCAA, which oversees the operations of the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Willow Run Airport (YIP). There’s approximately $750 million in major contracting opportunities to be bid on over the next two years.

The morning session will introduce the upcoming construction opportunities at both airports. Contractors will receive an overview of the 2026-2027 construction project calendar, including major projects across the airfield, landside and terminal areas.

During the afternoon session, attendees will learn about the long-term strategic vision for the concessions program in both the McNamara and Evans terminals, including emerging market trends and how they influence the future design of the facilities. WCAA will also present information on upcoming contracts.

Both sessions will offer insight into the procurement process, including solicitation, bidding, award procedures and contract management.

This open invitation is extended to all local and national companies, construction contractors, concessionaires, engineering firms, consultants, vendors, small business enterprises and disadvantaged business enterprise firms seeking opportunities within the aviation industry.

Leading up to the event, WCAA representatives are available for interviews with interested media outlets.
