United Way of Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo to benefit from community fundraiser
Fort McMurray, AB – This past Saturday, the Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) was alive with festive spirit as the annual YMM Pumpkins & Planes Halloween event welcomed families for an afternoon of fun, all in support of a greater cause. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to the United Way of Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo, helping to uplift local non-profits that serve individuals and families in need.
Children and adults alike enjoyed a variety of activities, including five creatively spooky craft and game stations, a lively photobooth, costume contests for prizing and appearances from beloved Mascotz characters. Trick-or-treating around the terminal rounded out the experience, ensuring smiles on every face.
Each $10 ticket sold represents more than just admission – it’s a direct contribution to building a stronger, more compassionate community.
“We are incredibly grateful to YMM and community for their support of this event. Every dollar raised through the YMM Pumpkins & Planes event directly supports essential programs that empower individuals and strengthen families in our region,” says Business Development Leader Jonathan Davies of the United Way. “It’s inspiring to see how much we can accomplish when we come together for a common goal, and this event is a wonderful example of the power of community spirit.”
President & CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority, Denean Robinson, expressed pride in the success of the event and the community’s participation. “The United Way supports 20 vital non-profits in our region, all of which make a significant difference in the lives of our neighbours. With this year’s ambitious two-million-dollar United Way Campaign goal, it’s inspiring to see everyone come together to do their fundraising part.”
YMM and the United Way are grateful to all who participated and look forward to continuing this impactful partnership.
