JUNE 8, 2026 (MIAMI, FLORIDA) – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis and Miami International Airport Director and CEO Ralph Cutié joined multiple media outlets this morning to highlight the expansion of the Families on the Fly initiative at MIA, a program designed to improve the travel experience for families with young children.

I am proud to team up with Commissioner Milian Orbis to introduce this family-friendly service for travelers at MIA. Families with young children will now experience a smoother, more convenient security screening process when departing from Miami-Dade County. I’m especially excited that we’re launching this program just in time to serve visitors from around the globe for the World Cup.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

As part of the expansion, Families on the Fly is now available at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 at MIA, helping families traveling with strollers and young children move through security more efficiently while reducing congestion for all passengers.

As a mother of two young children, I understand firsthand how stressful air travel can be for families. Families on the Fly is about making the airport experience smoother, safer, and less overwhelming for parents while also improving efficiency for everyone moving through MIA.

The program comes as Miami-Dade County prepares for increased international travel and major global events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Commissioner Milian Orbis thanked Director Ralph Cutie, MIA staff, and the TSA for their partnership in expanding the program and improving the travel experience for families passing through MIA.

Miami International Airport, America’s busiest airport for international freight and the second busiest for international passengers, is receiving an unprecedented investment of $14 billion in capital improvements and maintenance upgrades. MIA offers more flights to Latin America and the Caribbean than any other U.S. airport and is also the leading economic engine for Miami-Dade County and the state of Florida, generating business revenue of $212 billion and approximately 60 percent of all international visitors to Florida annually.
