Kalamazoo, MI— The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) reminds travelers that commercial air service will be temporarily suspended for seven days beginning at 12:00 a.m. on September 12, 2026. Commercial flights are scheduled to resume on September 19.
No commercial flights will arrive at or depart from AZO from September 12 through September 18. However, the airport will remain open for rental car access and other customer needs. Runways 5-23 and 9-27 will also remain available for eligible airport operations.
The temporary suspension will allow contractors to safely complete critical pavement, lighting and airfield work associated with the 450-foot extension of Runway 17-35. The project is designed to provide pilots with additional operational distance, improve safety margins and strengthen AZO’s long-term ability to serve Southwest Michigan.
