Changes designed to improve passenger experiences and traffic flow

FLETCHER, NC — Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) will introduce simplified parking options beginning September 10.

The changes are part of AVL’s planned efforts to improve the passenger experience while maintaining safe, secure and efficient roadway operations as construction continues on the airport’s terminal modernization project, AVL Forward.

Simplified parking options begin September 10

Beginning Thursday, September 10, AVL will introduce simplified parking options to make parking choices clearer and improve the customer experience.

Parking will be organized into three primary products:

  • Premium Parking — $22 per day
The closest parking lot option to the terminal, including a combination of surface and covered/garage parking spaces.
  • Standard Parking — $15 per day
Convenient parking lot close to the terminal, with the option to walk or use an AVL shuttle.
  • Shuttle Parking — $12 per day
Three parking lot options located farther from the terminal and served by AVL shuttles.

Parking rates are changing to a new structure with the implementation of the new parking products.  See below for comparisons:

Previous Parking Product Price New Parking Product Price
Hourly Lot $30/day Premium Parking $22/day
Daily Lot (Upper – closest to the terminal) $12/day Premium Parking $22/day
Daily Lot (Lower – south of the parking garage and close to the terminal) $12/day Standard Parking $15/day
Garage $17/day Premium Parking $22/day
Shuttle Lots A, B & C $12/day Shuttle Parking (No change) $12/day

The changes will also allow the airport to streamline parking operations and prepare for future technology improvements and additional customer amenities. All parking areas will continue to include designated handicapped parking spaces.

Some parking entrances and traffic patterns will change as part of the changes. Updated roadway signage as well as updated maps on the airport website will be implemented to assist travelers.

“This is about making the parking experience easier to understand from the moment a traveler arrives on airport property,” Bleiweis said. “Clearer choices, improved wayfinding and future technology enhancements are all part of our continued focus on making the passenger journey better as our airport grows.”

Plan ahead before coming to AVL

Because travelers who regularly use AVL will notice new parking names, signage and traffic patterns, passengers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the changes before their next trip and allow a little additional time when arriving at the airport during the transition.

Updated passenger journey and airport maps are available at flyavl.com/maps.

Parking information, including rates, locations, maps and shuttle information, is available at flyavl.com/parking-transportation/parking.
