McKinney National Airport will be one of five Avelo Airlines’ national crew bases. In addition to

basing aircraft at DTX, the airline’s base in McKinney is expected to generate career

opportunities for locals, including pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers, and

gate agents. These people investments will create regional economic benefits as Avelo

employees and contractors will be working, living, and spending in their local community.

Avelo’s launch of flights at DTX is the same day the airport will open its newly constructed,

46,000-square-foot passenger terminal to the public. Located at 1910 FM 546, McKinney, TX,

the terminal is expected to be completed in November 2026.

DTX’s modern, efficient, and accessible terminal will initially offer four boarding gates with the

ability to expand to six gates. The terminal will also include centralized food and beverage

concessions; spacious, open hold rooms for passenger comfort; a 980-space public parking lot;

and onsite car rental facilities and ground transportation services.

“I am proud to share that years of planning, partnership, and hard work will come to fruition in

November 2026, which is when we will open a brand-new passenger terminal and welcome

Avelo Airlines to McKinney National Airport,” said McKinney National Airport Director of

Aviation Ken Carley. “I am deeply grateful to the many individuals, partners and agencies

whose dedication made this milestone possible.”

“For North Texas travelers, this means more choice and the opportunity to begin their journey

closer to home. We are excited to deliver a travel experience that saves time, expands options,

and better serves the needs of our growing region,” Carley continued.

Information about commercial service operations at McKinney National Airport can be found

using the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code DTX. When booking flights from

and to McKinney National Airport, DTX will appear on airline websites and booking portals,

boarding passes and checked-baggage tags, and on travel itinerary emails and receipts.

McKinney National Airport is transitioning to deliver commercial air service in support of the

growing population and ongoing business investment in the North Texas region after serving

general aviation operations, which will continue at the airport under FAA code TKI, for over 40

years.
