ADB SAFEGATE, a global leader in intelligent solutions for airport performance, has been chosen to provide a turnkey solution for Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (ASMGCS) at Kuwait International Airport (KIA). This project marks a significant milestone in ADB SAFEGATE’s longstanding partnership with KIA, which has been ongoing for over 35 years. The contract, signed on April 18, 2024, solidifies ADB SAFEGATE’s commitment to enhancing airport operations and safety at KIA.
The ASMGCS project is a response to KIA’s strategic implementation of advanced technologies as outlined in its master plan. It aims to resolve operational challenges, such as limited line of sight in several maneuvering areas due to the New ATC Tower’s position and adverse weather conditions leading to low visibility operations (LVO). ADB SAFEGATE will deploy its OneControl solution, the most advanced Integrated Controller Working Position (ICWP) and ASMGCS, ensuring weatherproof operation and enhanced safety for airport operations.

Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, President of Civil Aviation, said “Kuwait International Airport is committed to providing the highest level of safety and efficiency for passengers and airlines. We are confident that ADB SAFEGATE’s ASMGCS solution will enhance our capabilities and help us meet the growing demands.”
Aziz Cakir, VP MEA at ADB SAFEGATE, said “It is not just a contract we sign today but a renewal of our longstanding commitment to innovation and excellence in the Kuwait’s aviation sector. The introduction of ASMGCS at Kuwait International Airport will set a benchmark in aviation technology, where every takeoff, landing, and taxi is guided by unparalleled precision and safety.”
Tamer Samy, Sales Director Middle East at ADB SAFEGATE, added “we are thrilled to continue our partnership with Kuwait International Airport and contribute to their operational excellence. Our advanced ASMGCS solution represents the latest in airside technology, guaranteeing seamless and safe operations, particularly in challenging conditions.”
The project, scheduled for a 2-year implementation period, includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, commissioning, training, and maintenance of the ASMGCS Solution. Following the implementation, ADB SAFEGATE will provide 4 years of maintenance and technical support to ensure the system’s continued performance.
ADB SAFEGATE has been working with KIA for over 35 years, providing operation-critical systems like airfield lighting, Advanced Lighting Control and Monitoring Systems (ALCMS/ILCMS), Advanced Visual Docking and Guidance Systems (A-VDGS), and SafeControl Apron Management systems. The new project at Kuwait International Airport is a testament to ADB SAFEGATE’s commitment to advancing airport technology and aligns with its vision for Airside 4.0 – a concept that aims to revolutionize airport operations through the integration of digital, automated, and intelligent solutions.
