Armstrong Introduces Axiom® Design Troughs For Integrated Ceiling Coordination

Jul 30, 2026 | News

LANCASTER, Pa. (July 30, 2026)  — Armstrong World Industries, Inc., an Americas leader in the design and manufacture of innovative interior and exterior architectural applications, introduces Axiom® Design Troughs, an extruded aluminum ceiling solution that helps architects, designers, and contractors integrate lighting, HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), and architectural details within the ceiling plane without compromising design intent. Axiom Design Troughs simplify coordination, support cleaner installs, and give design teams the flexibility they need to deliver on their vision.

“Architects and contractors are raising the bar on what ceiling systems need to deliver and coordination within the ceiling plane is a big part of that conversation,” said Dave Hovekamp, vice president, sales & marketing of WAVE, Armstrong World Industries. “No other ceiling manufacturer offers a standard, off-the-shelf trough system that coordinates across ceiling elements for both aesthetics and system integration. That’s a meaningful gap that Axiom Design Troughs were purpose-built to fill and they meet that demand head on.”

Built for Architects, Designers, and Contractors

Axiom Design Troughs give design teams a clean, specifiable solution for running lighting, MEP, HVAC, and architectural details through a single, refined channel with standard profiles, corners, and intersections, plus custom sizing for projects with unique requirements.

For contractors, out-of-the-box trough sections and field-cuttable components reduce jobsite complexity and support cleaner finished conditions. Standard corners and intersections help manage even the most demanding ceiling design layouts.

Product Options and Design Flexibility

Axiom Design Troughs offer a range of standard components to support coordinated ceiling layouts:

         Four profile options: 2″ × 4″ Design Trough, 2″ × 6″ Design Trough, 4″ Face Plate, 6″ Face Plate

         Standard 2″ depth with 4″ and 6” trough width options; custom height and width options available

         90-degree corners, 3-way, and 4-way intersections for complex layouts
