Airport shows continued leadership in environmental, social, and governance performance

ATLANTA — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has released its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance Report, titled A Century in Flight, highlighting the Airport’s priorities, performance, and opportunities to advance sustainability across its operations and long-term development strategy. The report commemorates ATL’s 100 years of visionary leadership while underscoring its continued focus on operational excellence, passenger experience, innovation, and responsible growth.

The 2025 ESG Report documents measurable environmental progress across the Airport’s portfolio. ATL reported an estimated 5.8 percent reduction in emissions per passenger in 2025 compared to the 2022-2024 three-year average, 281 electric vehicle charging stations, a 93 percent cumulative construction waste diversion rate for capital projects since 2016, and a 61 percent cumulative design water reduction against the LEED baseline since 2016.

The report also highlights ATL’s people-centered investments and community impact. Department of Aviation employees completed 40,266 human trafficking awareness training sessions, contributed 204 volunteer hours, and helped sustain a workforce that is 88 percent people of color and 43 percent women. Within executive management, 73 percent are people of color and 41 percent are women, reflecting continued emphasis on representation in leadership.

“Our 2025 ESG Report may look like a page of performance metrics, but there’s so much more. It tells the story of an airport that is building for the future while remaining grounded in service, accountability, and opportunity,” said Airport General Manager Ricky Smith.

“As ATL marks a century in flight, this report demonstrates how environmental stewardship, community investment, and strong governance are helping shape the next era of growth for the world’s busiest, and most efficient airport.”

The annual ESG report provides a snapshot of how ATL aligns sustainability with infrastructure planning, workforce development, and operational decision-making. It also reinforces the Airport’s role as a global gateway that advances economic impact while creating long-term value for passengers, employees, business partners, and the communities it serves.
