Changes designed to improve passenger experiences and traffic flow

FLETCHER, NC — Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) will introduce a more conveniently located Ride App and Taxi Pick-up area beginning September 1.

The change is part of AVL’s planned efforts to improve the passenger experience while maintaining safe, secure and efficient roadway operations.

Ride App and Taxi Pickup moves September 1

Beginning Tuesday, September 1, passengers using taxis or ride app services such as Uber and Lyft, will be picked up at the new Ride App and Taxi Pick-up location in a designated lot just south of the new rental car center and baggage claim.

The new more convenient location is approximately a six-minute walk from the terminal. Passengers who prefer to ride to the Ride App and Taxi Pick-up may take any AVL shuttle from the shuttle pick-up areas along the terminal curb.

As an added service, real-time parking shuttle tracking and notifications are available through the Passio GO! App or on the airport’s website, helping passengers see shuttle locations and better plan their journey.

Ride app and taxi drop-offs are not changing. Passengers may continue to be dropped off at the curb in front of the ticket lobby or at the rental car center.

The Ride App and Taxi Pick-up location has shifted throughout AVL Forward as part of the airport’s planned construction phasing. The move to the new location is the next planned step in that progression, providing closer access to the terminal while keeping pick-up traffic away from the terminal curb to help reduce congestion and maintain safe, efficient traffic flow.
