Kalamazoo, MI— The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) is preparing to welcome thousands of community members to the 2026 Air Fair: Red, Flight & Blue, Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
AZO is expecting approximately 5,000 attendees for one of the airport’s largest community events of the year. Admission and parking are free.
“Air Fair is one of our favorite opportunities to open the airport to the community and give people a chance to experience aviation in a way they normally wouldn’t,” said Craig Williams, Airport Director. “Whether it’s a child’s first time sitting inside an aircraft, a family learning about aviation careers or someone simply coming out to enjoy the airplanes, we want everyone to feel that this is their airport. We’re excited to welcome everyone to AZO on Saturday.”
This year’s Air Fair will feature aircraft displays and more than 30 activities and experiences for all ages. Activities include an F-16 cockpit experience, introductory flights, preflight inspections, a Redbird flight simulator, drone demonstration, aircraft marshaling, airplane scavenger hunt, parachute drop, paper airplane contest, stomp rockets, aviation educational activities and more.
Families can also enjoy face painting, bounce houses, a hot air balloon photo booth, Paint the Plow, the AZO fire truck and other hands-on activities. More than 10 food trucks are expected to be in attendance, offering a wide variety of food and drink options throughout the event.
Numerous aviation, educational and community organizations will participate, including Western Michigan University’s College of Aviation, Air Zoo, Civil Air Patrol, Delta Air Lines, Envoy Air, Kalamazoo Flight Instruction, TSA, Kalamazoo RESA and others.
Air Fair gives Southwest Michigan an opportunity to experience aviation up close while connecting families with the people, organizations and careers that make aviation possible throughout the region.
