Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport gets “Something To Do” thanks to new Wealthsimple partnership in transborder lounge

TORONTO, ON — June 1, 2026 — Wealthsimple and Nieuport Aviation, the terminal partner at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), today announced an exclusive three-year agreement (with room to grow), making Wealthsimple the sole financial services partner in the transborder lounge. The partnership opens with Something To Do, a limited-time pop-up running June 1 to August 31, 2026 inside the transborder terminal, with more to come over the next few years.

The pop-up spotlights the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite +* and Visa Infinite Privilege* credit cards, offering 2% cash back on every purchase, no FX fees, no annual fee for qualifying clients, plus travel perks like airport lounge passes and trip, baggage, and flight delay insurance.** Travellers can sign up on-site, add the credit card to their digital wallet before takeoff, and start earning 2% from their very first purchase abroad.

Something To Do is the kind of experience Wealthsimple believes in, one worth a client’s time, in a moment where the product actually matters,” said Paul Teshima, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer at Wealthsimple. “We aren’t interested in interrupting people’s day; we’re interested in earning a place in it. We’re proud to put the Wealthsimple credit card in the hands of Canadian travellers at one of the country’s most iconic gateways.”

A proudly Canadian space, built for the modern traveller

Something To Do takes over the former transborder duty-free space and redesigns it head-to-toe in the look of the Wealthsimple credit card itself: with black metallic detailing and silver chrome, as well as warm wood touches throughout.

Inside, a team of Wealthsimple experts will be on-site to help travellers sign up for a Wealthsimple credit card and answer anything about Wealthsimple, alongside five things travellers can engage with from some of Canada’s most beloved brands and artists:

  • Something To Read: A print edition of TLDR by Wealthsimple, Canada’s most-read financial newsletter, with a special issue, “How to Invest in Tumultuous Times,” yours to take onto the plane.
  • Something To Listen To: Three custom playlists from Polaris Music Prize, each soundtracking a different mood of travel, from pre-flight excitement to the quiet of landing somewhere new.
  • Something To Drink: Coffee from Pilot Coffee Roasters, the beloved Toronto roaster newly opened in the transborder area, with 100% cash back on every order up to $10 when you pay with your Wealthsimple credit card. T&Cs apply. (Airport coffee that’s really good? And free? Yes and yes.)
  • Something To Sit On: Bespoke furniture designed by Toronto’s East Room, including signature wood-and-metal benches.
  • Something To Explore: A custom illustrated mural of a Toronto streetscape, commissioned by Canadian artist Jillian Tamaki.

Landing at the right moment

The timing is no accident. Billy Bishop Airport is entering what is expected to be a dynamic summer: U.S. Customs and Border Protection Preclearance just opened on-site and new transborder routes to Boston, Chicago, Nashville, New York-LaGuardia, and Washington-Dulles are now flying, with additional routes being added over the summer. Transborder passenger volume is expected to significantly increase, boosted further by the FIFA World Cup, with major matches across the Northeast U.S. corridor throughout June and July. Thousands of travellers will pass through this terminal this summer, many on their way to places where FX fees would quietly eat their lunch. Wealthsimple is meeting them at the gate.

“Billy Bishop has always been defined by its unique location and a seamless traveller experience,” said Katie Battiston, Chief Financial Officer of Nieuport Aviation. “Partnering with Wealthsimple allows us to offer passengers a beautifully designed space that adds real value to their time and elevates the travel experience. We are thrilled to welcome Wealthsimple as our exclusive transborder financial services partner.”
