| North Baltimore, Ohio — As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, The D.S. Brown Company is marking a milestone of its own: 135 years of engineering innovation and infrastructure contributions that have helped shape the nation’s transportation network. Founded in 1890, D.S. Brown is a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of engineered products for the bridge, highway and airport industries, with a legacy that spans more than a century of American transportation development.
That legacy is reflected in the American Road & Transportation Builders Association‘s (ARTBA) recently released list of 250 Transportation Projects That Helped Build America, created in conjunction with the nation’s America 250 celebration. An internal review by D.S. Brown identified connections to 55 of the projects recognized by ARTBA, where the company has provided expansion joint systems, structural bearings, cable protection systems, engineering expertise, or other specialized infrastructure solutions that help keep vital transportation assets operating safely and efficiently. “D.S. Brown has always taken tremendous pride in helping build and maintain the infrastructure that keeps America moving,” said Scott Jenkins, Vice President and General Manager of The D.S. Brown Company. “To discover that our products and engineering expertise have played a role in 55 projects recognized as among the most important transportation achievements in U.S. history is both humbling and gratifying. It speaks to the generations of employees, engineers and customers who have trusted D.S. Brown to solve critical infrastructure challenges.” ARTBA’s list highlights transportation assets that have connected communities, driven economic growth, facilitated commerce and transformed mobility across the United States. Among the notable projects where D.S. Brown has made contributions are nationally recognized landmarks and transportation corridors including the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Mackinac Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, Tappan Zee Bridge, Brent Spence Bridge Corridor, Pennsylvania Turnpike, Ohio Turnpike, Leonard P.
