Nov 2, 2026 | News

MUSKEGON, Mich. (November 2, 2026) – Muskegon County Airport is making history with the announcement of new seasonal nonstop weekly service to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), beginning Saturday, January 9, 2027.

Operated by Denver Air Connection (DAC), the new route will mark the first time in the airport’s history that scheduled commercial airline service has connected Muskegon directly to Florida. With one-way fares starting at just $199, the flights will provide West Michigan travelers with a convenient and affordable option for reaching one of the nation’s most popular vacation destinations.

Flights will operate every Saturday aboard DAC’s 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 jet, offering maximum convenience for weeklong vacations, family getaways, and visits to Florida’s many attractions.

“This is a historic milestone for MKG and the communities we serve,” said Airport Director Ken Efting. “For the first time, travelers can fly nonstop from Muskegon to one of West Michigan’s most popular destinations, with affordable fares and low baggage fees, free parking, and the convenience of starting your trip close to home. This is exactly the kind of opportunity we’ve been working toward, and it’s a testament to our growing community support and strong partnership with Denver Air Connection.”

Orlando Sanford International Airport, located northeast of downtown, offers convenient access to Central Florida’s world-famous theme parks and vacation destinations, with famous beaches within a short drive. Known for its ease of travel and welcoming atmosphere, SFB has been an outstanding partner in helping to establish the new route.

“We are thrilled to welcome Denver Air Connection to Orlando Sanford International Airport,” said Nicole Martz, President and CEO of Orlando Sanford International Airport. “This new nonstop service gives travelers in Muskegon and West Michigan a simpler, faster way to reach Central Florida, and we look forward to greeting them at SFB this January.”

The announcement represents another significant investment in the Muskegon market by Denver Air Connection, which currently provides daily scheduled service between MKG and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), with connecting opportunities through its interline arrangements with United, American and Delta Airlines.

“We’ve seen tremendous progress in Muskegon, and we’re excited to take this next step with the community,” said Denver Air Connection CEO Cliff Honeycutt. “The support we’ve received from folks along the Lakeshore has really demonstrated the potential of this market. Orlando is a natural destination, and we believe this new service will provide a great opportunity for families and vacationers looking for a convenient, affordable way to travel to Florida.”

“Investing in our local airports means investing in West Michigan’s economy and the families who rely on it,” said Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “That’s why I fought to bring Denver Air Connection to Muskegon County Airport in 2024, and today we’re seeing a great return on that effort. New nonstop service to Florida is a tremendous milestone for MKG and a testament to what strong partnerships can accomplish.”

Tickets Available Beginning November 10

Tickets go on sale November 10, 2026, and will be available to purchase directly from Denver Air Connection at www.denverairconnection.com, as well as popular third-party travel booking platforms, including Expedia, KAYAK, and Travelocity. Travelers should search for Muskegon County Airport (MKG) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) when booking. Beyond providing a new travel option for area residents, the service is expected to support tourism and economic development by introducing a direct connection between Central Florida and West Michigan’s beautiful lakeshore.

“For us, this is about more than adding another destination to the departure board,” Efting added. “It’s about demonstrating what’s possible for a regional airport when people choose to support it. Every passenger who chooses to fly from Muskegon helps make opportunities like this possible. We’re grateful to Denver Air Connection, our partners at SFB, and the community that continues to believe in MKG. We intend to keep building on that momentum.”
