Fresno, CA – Friday, May 22, 2026, commemorated the official dedication of the Henry L. Thompson Memorial Art Gallery located within the Terminal Expansion Project at Concourse B at Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT). The gallery is dedicated in honor of the late Henry L. Thompson, former City of Fresno Director of Aviation, in recognition of his lasting leadership and vision for the airport’s growth and service to the community.
“Together with the Thompson family, we are honored to pay tribute to Henry in this beautiful new space he envisioned for our airport.” said City of Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer. “As travelers experience the public art program throughout the new terminal expansion, they will now have the opportunity to learn more about the individual whose leadership and dedication helped elevate the travel experience.”
Mr. Thompson envisioned the airport to be a distinguished gateway that celebrates the cultural richness, creative spirit, and diverse heritage of the community and region by providing an inspiring, welcoming, meaningful experience for all who travel through the airport.
The art gallery stands as a distinguished centerpiece of FAT’s expanded terminal public art program and a celebratory testament to the realization of Mr. Thompson’s vision. Designed to enhance the passenger experience, the curated collection showcases artwork that reflects the landscapes and communities of California’s Central Valley.
In addition to the gallery collection, permanent public art installations have been integrated throughout the new terminal areas, including the passenger screening checkpoint, Concourse B hold rooms, the International Arrivals Lobby, and International Arrivals Plaza.
“Henry’s deep passion for both airports and the arts is clearly reflected throughout the new terminal expansion,” said Interim Director of Aviation Francisco Partida. “It is inspiring to see that his legacy continues within the facility and across the industry he so greatly valued and to which he was deeply connected.”
