McKINNEY, Texas (Sept. 24, 2026) — McKinney National Airport (DTX) today announced the commercial passenger terminal construction is on time to open on Veterans Day and Avelo Airlines shared news of additional nonstop service to four more cities from DTX and a third based aircraft. Today’s announcement included a look at DTX’s new terminal. Airport and contracting partners guided Avelo’s leadership, community members, and local media through the facility six weeks before it opens to the traveling public on Nov. 11, 2026.

Avelo announced additional nonstop flights from DTX in December 2026 to the following airports: Atlanta (ATL) beginning Dec. 16; and Denver (DEN), Nashville (BNA), and New Orleans (MSY) starting Dec. 17.

The new service announcement is in addition to Avelo’s inaugural flights launching in November 2026 from DTX, with Fort Myers (RSW) on Nov. 11, Las Vegas (LAS) and Orlando (MCO) on Nov. 12, and Tampa (TPA) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) on Nov. 19.

The Houston, Texas-based carrier will fly and base three 184-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 jet aircraft and operate on Wednesdays through Mondays from DTX.

Today’s announcement included Federal Aviation Administration Director, Airports Southwest Region Ignacio Flores presenting DTX’s Airport Operating Certificate to Carley. Federal certification is another major milestone in the airport’s transition to commercial service in support of the growing population and ongoing business investment in North Texas.

DTX flight information can be found using the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code DTX. When booking flights from and to McKinney National Airport, DTX will appear on airline websites and booking portals, boarding passes and checked-baggage tags, and on travel itinerary emails and receipts.
