Miami International Airport celebrated the opening day of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with two performances for travelers inside Concourse D by Brazilian & Latin Sounds Co., featuring electrifying Samba dancers, high-energy Batucada drummers, and gravity-defying Capoeira acrobats. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava was in attendance for the first performance.

Today’s celebration is just one of the many ways we’re giving World Cup travelers an engaging and memorable experience at MIA, whether they’re staying in Miami-Dade County or connecting to another host city. Through maintenance upgrades, vibrant lighting features, beautification efforts, art installations, and immersive performances like today’s, we’re transforming MIA into a welcoming space that showcases our diverse Miami culture.

MIA is hosting fan zones at gate E5 and in the Concourse H-J connector post-security, where all games will be shown on large-screen monitors, while many airport restaurants will air the games live as well. Soccer-themed art exhibitionsare also on view in MIA’s North and South terminals to get travelers into the World Cup spirit.

As the gateway of the Americas and the second-busiest U.S. airport for international passengers, MIA will serve millions of travelers during the World Cup. In addition to welcoming visitors for seven matches in Miami-Dade County, MIA will be a busy connector airport for travelers en route to other host cities across North America.
