WHAT:

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis invites residents, community stakeholders, and traveling families to a milestone update event highlighting the progress of the Families on the Fly initiative at Miami International Airport.

The event will provide updates on Miami-Dade County’s efforts to advocate for enhanced family-friendly TSA screening experiences at MIA, including dedicated family security lanes and improved accommodations for parents traveling with children.

“As a mother of two young children, I know firsthand how stressful air travel can be for families. Parents already have enough to manage when traveling with children, and our goal is simple: make the airport experience safer, smoother, and less overwhelming for families traveling through Miami International Airport,” said Commissioner Milian Orbis.

“Families on the Fly is not just good for parents. It is good for everyone moving through MIA. When parents with strollers, car seats, and small children have a lane for themselves, everyone else moves faster too. This is common sense. Less stress, less congestion, and a better airport experience for everyone.”

The initiative comes as Miami prepares to welcome the world for the upcoming FIFA events and increased international travel activity.

“With up to one million visitors expected during the FIFA World Cup festivities, this is about preparing responsibly for the future. We want families visiting Miami and families who live here to move through MIA safely, efficiently, and with the support they deserve,” Commissioner Milian Orbis added.
