Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport opened a newly expanded gate area in the Airport’s Terminal 3 south concourse in July. While awaiting their flights, passengers of regional/commuter airlines will utilize a fully refreshed hold room, with a larger seating area, new escalators, restroom facilities, food and beverage options and charging ports, improving the overall experience. One of the updated gates is used for Terminal 3’s regional/commuter airlines: Advanced Air, Denver Air and Southern Airways.
“The new gate area enhances the experience for our regional/commuter airline passengers and staff, creating a larger, modern seating area with more windows to view the airfield and aircraft,” said Phoenix Sky Harbor’s Assistant Aviation Director and Chief Operating Officer Sarah Demory. “We are pleased to provide this new, comfortable space for our customers.”
The project designer is DWL Architects and the builder is McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.
Opening the expanded gate area also will provide additional overflow capacity for all airlines at PHX. They will be scheduled on a contingency/overflow basis only, as needed, to relieve gate congestion.
