It is one of the Coachella Valley’s most important economic engines,” said Victoria Carpenter, Interim Executive Director of Aviation. “As we invest in the airport’s future, we are also fueling jobs, local businesses and long-term opportunity in the Coachella Valley.” The airport-commissioned study examines economic activity generated by airport services, visitor spending and capital investment across Riverside and San Bernardino counties, with a closer look at benefits within the Coachella Valley and the City of Palm Springs. The findings reflect a record year at PSP, which welcomed more than 3.3 million passengers in 2025 and offered nonstop service to 34 destinations across the United States and Canada. Visitors Drive PSP’s Economic Impact Visitors arriving through PSP were the airport’s largest source of economic activity, accounting for more than $1.1 billion in direct visitor spending and supporting thousands of jobs throughout the region. That spending supports hotels, restaurants, retailers, transportation providers, entertainment venues and other businesses throughout the region. Airport services, including airlines, concessionaires, rental car companies, government agencies and other airport businesses, also generate significant economic activity and support thousands of local jobs. Benefits Remain Close to Home Nearly 97% of PSP’s economic impact remains within the Coachella Valley, including more than half within the City of Palm Springs. “These numbers reflect thousands of people whose livelihoods are connected to PSP,” said Palm Springs Mayor Naomi Soto. “The airport’s growing impact means new employment opportunities, local businesses serving our visitors, and a remote workforce flying in and out for business.” Investing in the Airport’s Future PSP invested $47.2 million in capital improvements during Fiscal Year 2025, supporting projects that modernize airport infrastructure and prepare the airport for continued growth. These projects supported hundreds of jobs and generated $59 million in economic output. The airport continues to advance improvements, including a new baggage handling system, planning for a new concourse, an international arrival facilities, and new rental car facilities. Together, these investments will help PSP meet future demand, improve the passenger experience and continue supporting economic growth throughout the Coachella Valley.
