Seamless, Monolithic Ceilings Without Sacrificing Ease of Access: Armstrong Launches MetalWorks™ Torsion Spring Large Format Ceiling Panels

Aug 20, 2026 | News

LANCASTER, Pa. (August 20, 2026) — Armstrong World Industries. Inc., an Americas leader in the design and manufacture of innovative interior and exterior architectural applications, has launched MetalWorks™ Torsion Spring Large Format Panels, which include 5′ x 10′ panel options, one of the largest standard sizes available today.  These easy-to-install panels deliver a more seamless, monolithic visual with a unique grid-concealing installation and full swing-down accessibility.

These panels are available in standard 4′ x 8′ and 5′ x 10′ sizes and are available in 4′ x 4′ and 5′ x 5′ as custom sizes. Panels are made of aluminum composite and incorporate ExpanTech™ technology, which is made up of a honeycomb interior that enables these large-format ceiling panels to stay rigid and flat, giving them a uniform appearance.

“For architects, MetalWorks Torsion Spring Large Format is a highly differentiated solution that delivers a seamless, monolithic look but with all the practical benefits,“ said Kristi Howard, Product Manager, Metal Interiors, Armstrong World Industries. “They can offer clean visuals over vast spaces and still maintain easy plenum access. For contractors, the big win is efficiency. With these large panels, installers can tackle 32 to 50 square feet fast, dramatically speeding up installation and reducing labor hours.”

Installation is designed to be straightforward and efficient. These panels install from below on a pre-slotted 15/16″ Prelude® XL® suspension system, using the proven torsion spring design with factory-applied springs that engage directly into the main beams. A two-person crew can progressively align, compress, and secure the panels without moving them into the plenum, while the system’s downward-accessible design enables panels to be removed from below for maintenance access.

MetalWorks Torsion Spring Large Format Panels are available unperforated (M1) or with 0.062″ round perforations arranged in diagonal pattern (M15). Additional custom perforation options are available, including an extra-microperforated option (M3). Standard painted aluminum finishes include White (WH), Silver Grey (SG), Gun Metal Grey (MY), and additional custom colors and wood-look finishes are available. Finally, select standard and custom panels are part of the Armstrong Sustain™ portfolio, meeting the most stringent industry sustainability compliance standards today
