Studio TK Unveils Transportation Portfolio

Apr 22, 2026 | News

The comprehensive lookbook reinforces the brand’s commitment to supporting the full journey of travel as transportation design continues to evolve.

Studio TK, a North Carolina-based contract furniture company, is proud to unveil a comprehensive Transportation Portfolio. Recognizing that getting from point A to point B has become increasingly transactional and unnecessarily taxing, the lookbook underscores the need for human-centric design in transitional spaces. It illustrates how Studio TK’s furniture solutions help shape environments that engage the senses, delivering physical and emotional comfort grounded in choice.

From airport and train station lounges to café settings and gate and platform areas, designers are creating spaces that allow travelers to pause, recharge, and reconnect during moments that might otherwise feel rushed or overwhelming. Each page highlights purposeful solutions within Studio TK’s product portfolio that support a variety of experiences, from quiet reflection to brief social interaction, with an emphasis on versatility, thoughtful layouts, and sensory comfort that make waiting feel more human.

“Travel can be challenging, and existing transitional spaces often do little to ease that experience,” says Koorosh Sharghi, President of Studio TK. “Spaces should be designed to do more than just move people along; they should be designed with purpose, where travelers can slow down, catch their breath, and actually unwind. This lookbook reflects our approach to designing environments that support travelers every step of their journey.”

The lookbook is organized around three core environments:

  • The Places We Chill: Lounge spaces ease the stress of travel and offer visitors a reprieve. Today, they have further evolved into hybrid spaces where work meets hospitality, allowing travelers to regain a sense of control. Spaces should be easy to navigate, with layouts that provide a clear sense of purpose. A versatile landscape of seating balances open and private areas, supported by access to power, soft lighting, dynamic soundscapes, and comfortable surfaces to create a multi-sensory, calming experience.

  • The Places We Refuel: The concourse has evolved into a lounge for everyone, making a more personalized passenger experience essential. Café areas and lounges that offer all-inclusive amenities, such as food, beverages, and electrical access, are where passengers gravitate. Thoughtful furniture solutions encourage travelers to pause, grab a coffee, and spend time in the space rather than rush to the gate.

  • The Places We Board: Gate areas and platforms often feel clinical and driven by efficiency, sacrificing comfort and aesthetics. Efficiency and organic movement don’t have to be at odds. When design balances both, it creates spaces travelers can use and enjoy. Enveloping seating solutions give weary travelers much-needed rest, while generous seating with integrated power brings together convenience, function, and comfort. Soft seating intertwined between rows and rows of systemic benches breaks the monotony and elevates the gate experience. Together, these elements create a more comfortable, intuitive boarding experience that supports travelers in their final moments before departure.

Together, these three environments reframe the travel experience, supporting moments to recharge, connect, and move forward with greater ease and intention. Studio TK’s portfolio builds on the brand’s recognition as a design standard in United Airlines waiting areas and transportation hubs such as Calgary, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, Denver, and Detroit airports.
