Memphis, TN – May 19, 2022 - Airport Seating Alliance, a premier provider of quality airport seating, has announced its completion of a 460-seating installation at Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) in Provo, Utah. The install also included 230 seat charging modules, 3 liquid disposal units at the TSA security checkpoint and 28 stainless steel waste and recycling receptacles.
Installation, which took one week, was part of the airport’s $55 million terminal renovation which had its grand opening earlier this month. The new 75,000 square foot terminal has four gates which are expandable up to 10 gates.
James Hammond, ASA general manager, says the new Gateway seating is designed for today’s travelers. “With aesthetically pleasing lines, ergonomically comfortable shape, perforated steel seat and back, commercial grade vinyl cushions, and die-cast aluminum frame. Gateway is engineered for high traffic environments of today and in the future,” he says.
For this project, between each seat has arms for personal space and seats are upholstered with commercial grade vinyl and high-density foam cushions. In addition, each arm on the chair is custom raised for a more comfortable experience.
The seating colors were selected to match the airports branding colors, Hammond says. Also, each seat has a standard receptacle and USB port for fast, dependable charging. Like the seating, Power and Go is designed for high traffic, frequently used conditions, and engineered for a long, dependable and useful life, Hammond explains.
The liquid disposal units allow travelers to dispose of liquids easily and properly from personal containers prior to going through TSA. The units feature a stainless-steel frame and sink to avoid corrosion and 3” casters for mobility when emptying the 10-gallon resin retention tank. “Before liquid disposal, travelers were compelled to empty containers in trash receptacles and sometimes planters, creating multiple maintenance problems.”
The stainless-steel waste and recycling bins feature a brushed, perforated exterior and a 33-gallon LLDPE plastic liner for longer service life and easy maintenance. 2” laser cut letters clearly indicate receptacle type.
Airport Seating Alliance is a certified woman-owned business. Its airport division supplies high quality public seating and custom power charging solutions to international and regional airports. For more information, contact James Hammond at jhammond@airportseatingalliance.com.
Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
