WASHINGTON, DC (July 14, 2022)—The Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) announced its first-ever local chapters at the AMAC Chapters Development Update Meeting on June 22, 2022 during the 37th AMAC Airport Business Diversity Conference: Redefining Aviation Opportunities Together in Chicago, IL. AMAC is organized into eight national regions and will now include eight local chapters—a significant achievement as the organization powers forward through its continued growth.
First-Ever AMAC Chapters
“As we position to expand on AMAC’s impact, it is imperative that we establish, sustain and align our local presence. Local chapters position AMAC to grow its membership base, expand advocacy efforts, align with local interests, strengthen AMAC’s brand, and enhance its value proposition,” said Ricky Smith, AMAC Board of Directors Chair & CEO, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
During the 36th AMAC Airport Business Diversity Conference, AMAC members approved AMAC Chapters development. “This is an exciting opportunity for AMAC to extend the value proposition for AMAC members through the formation of AMAC Chapters. We look forward to working with the selected cities over the next year to have them chartered by the next AMAC Airport Business Diversity Conference,” said Justina Mann, Southwest Regional Director, AMAC Board of Directors; Chair, AMAC Chapters Development Committee; and Director, Infrastructure Controls Terminal Development, Houston Airport System.
AMAC actively introduced and extended several valuable programs and services to its members in the last two years, including but not limited to the AMAC Legends & Leapers, AMAC From 30,000 Feet and AMAC Builds Careers programs, along with the launch of the AMAC Airport Leadership Collective. “We are grateful for the airports who have stepped up to expand AMAC and the aviation industry’s economic impact on local communities across the country,” said Eboni Wimbush, AMAC President & CEO.

2022 Charlotte Douglas International Airport Report of Achievement
Giving back to the community is central to what Charlotte Douglas International Airport and its operator, the City of Charlotte Aviation Department, is about, and last year was no different.
Throughout 2022, while recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued our efforts to have a positive impact on the Charlotte community. Of particular note, we spent the year sharing stories of how Connections Don't Just Happen at the Terminal - from creating homeownership and employment opportunities to supporting economic growth through small-business development and offering outreach programs to help residents understand the Airport better.
This whitepaper highlights the construction projects, initiatives, programs and events that validate Charlotte Douglas as a premier airport.
