Weekly Saturday Flights Offered at Blue Grass Airport through March 30, 2024
Lexington, KY—November 10, 2023—American Airlines’ new non-stop flights between Blue Grass Airport (LEX) and Miami International Airport (MIA) begin tomorrow, November 11, 2023. This weekly service will be offered on Saturdays through March 30, 2024, giving travelers the perfect opportunity to take advantage of convenient flights to Miami and easy connections to the Caribbean for winter getaways, the holidays and spring break.
Known for its beaches that span more than 20 miles of the Atlantic coastline, Miami has something for all travelers looking for a winter getaway. Visitors can enjoy areas such as Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Little Havana, Miami Beach and Sunny Isles Beach or take in its historic art deco district. Miami also offers a diverse range of culinary options and was named the 2023 Food City of the Year by Bon Appetit.
Beyond a beach vacation in Miami, this new flight provides options to multiple sunny destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America. Miami is also the Cruise Capital of the World and serves as the beginning of the journey for many cruise lines including Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean International.
“This new flight provides a gateway to the sun-soaked beaches of Miami and serves as a great connection to a robust selection of Caribbean destinations," said Eric Frankl, president and CEO of Blue Grass Airport. "We are appreciative of American Airlines adding this new destination and look forward to American's continued growth in Lexington.”
Flights are operated on a 76-seat, ERJ-175 aircraft and include a first-class cabin. Reservations can be made at www.aa.com. In addition to this new seasonal offering, American Airlines offers service from Lexington to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).
“American Airlines is delighted to start non-stop service to our fifth destination from Lexington, adding more ways for locals to connect across our comprehensive global network,” said Joe Sottile, director of domestic network planning at American Airlines. “This new service will offer the most convenient access to all that Miami has to offer and even more one-stop access for customers to warm up this winter with the largest network of destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
