Lexington, KY—January 26, 2022—Blue Grass Airport’s Regional ARFF Training Center recently released its 2022 class schedule and is now accepting reservations. Registration for select courses are available online, but reservations for all other classes may be made by contacting the training center directly. The training center offers the opportunity to learn about aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) topics and receive the training and requirements necessary for their departments. More than 750 students attended the training center’s classes in 2021, which is an increase of 40 percent over 2020 and 44 percent over 2019.
The classes offered in 2022 include:
February 21-25, April 11-15, June 20-24, September 19-23, November 7-11 and December 5-9
Operating in a $5 million facility, students have access to specialized equipment and training methods. They participate in aircraft simulations using a Fuel Spill Trainer and Specialized Aircraft Fire Trainer designed to replicate a Boeing 737. Using these simulators to produce computer-controlled fires, students practice responding to situations like large-scale flammable liquid fires, engine fires, wheel and brake fires and aircraft interior fires with rollover and flashover. Online registration for select classes, along with a complete course list, is available at www.bluegrassairport.com/training.
“We are looking forward to meeting new faces throughout the year,” said D. Scott Lanter, Director of Public Safety and Operations at Blue Grass Airport, “as well as welcoming our returning students as we continue to serve not only the region, but also the entire country and sometimes international airports.”
Expert instructors Scott May and Brian Wainscott come to the training center with years of experience in response to aircraft accidents, firefighting and law enforcement. Bringing the skills acquired from their previous service in these fields along with a dedication to furthering their students’ ability to handle any situation, May and Wainscott provide a crucial balance of classroom instruction and hands-on practical exercises.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
