First of Its Kind Industry Award Celebrates Achievements of Professions in the Operational Readiness World
SAN FRANCISCO, May 24, 2023 – Citiri, the leader in owner scope management software for operational
readiness professionals, and Academy of Operations Enablement Professionals (AOEP), the industry
association dedicated to advocating, celebrating, and educating the operational readiness community,
presented the 2023 inaugural Opconic Award recipients at the Airport Construction Strategy Summit. The
awards acknowledge industry trailblazers who push boundaries, drive change, maximize value, and create
optimal outcomes for critical infrastructure projects.
According to industry research from both Deloitte and McKinsey & Company, nearly 85% of all critical
infrastructure projects fail to achieve their owners’ expectations. To combat this problem, more owners are
starting to follow the lead of top performing project owners by making formal investments to build operational
readiness capabilities. Historically, industry awards focus on the physical, build-side of projects. There has
never been an award to recognize achievements on the operations side of projects and that’s the side that
matters most to owners and their stakeholders. The Opconic Awards change that narrative.
Citiri CEO, Ortez Gude, says owners whose projects are consistently among the 15% that succeed, are the
owners already successfully integrating strong operational readiness practices into their capital programs and
that others will benefit from following those owners’ lead.
“We all benefit from the work Operational Readiness teams do. They’re the unsung heroes that are tackling
hard problems, most times, the world never even knows exist,” said Gude. “To have any chance of materially
reducing the project failure rate, project owners realize they must approach their infrastructure projects
differently and they must integrate strong operational readiness capabilities. That’s why we’re proud to be a
founding supporter and corporate sponsor of AOEP and the Opconic Awards to celebrate the organizations
leading the industry and doing it best.”
The 2023 Opconic Award recipients are:
• Port of Seattle / Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Best Team Performance)
• Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (Industry Beacon)
• Munich Airport International (Industry Vanguard)
• San Francisco International Airport (Execution Maestro)
• Los Angeles World Airports (Stakeholder Virtuoso)
• Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (Breakthrough Rising Star)
• Mr. Mohamed Ashmawy (Industry Luminary)
Recipients receive a platinum record plaque, commemorating their recognition, along with a $500 donation in
their name to a charity of their choice.
The work operational readiness teams perform often goes unnoticed because so much of it is behind the
scenes,” said Melvin Price, Global ORAT Specialist for Jacobs, AOEP founding member, and 2023 Opconic
Award recipient. “There are great practitioners all around the world, that are creating better outcomes for
critical infrastructure projects that impact millions of people’s quality of life. It’s awesome that now their
accomplishments will be acknowledged and celebrated.”

Integration of GIS with CMMS & EAM Systems
A growing number of Airports, Warehouses, private and public utilities today are implementing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems. In 2019, the CMMS software market was worth $0.92 billion. By 2027, it is expected to reach $1.77 billion, increasing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.58% during 2020-2027.
