FRESNO, CA – Mayor Ashley Swearengin today announced that Fresno Yosemite International Airport has finalized an agreement that will enable passengers to request rides to and from the airport with the rideshare service uberX effective immediately.
The agreement between Fresno Yosemite International Airport and the Uber affiliate that offers uberX ridesharing, Rasier-CA LLC, meets the requirement of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to allow Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) to operate at any California airport.
“The addition of uberX rideshare services further enhances the existing ride-sharing program and ground transportation options available at Fresno Yosemite International Airport,” said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle. “Lyft has been well-received by the traveling public since beginning operations at the airport in February and we expect uberX will be equally popular.”
“We are thrilled by the increasing demand for our safe, reliable rides in the Central Valley and we are excited to extend that growth to the Fresno Yosemite International Airport. Travelers arriving in Fresno will now have one more reliable and affordable transportation option just in time for the summer,” said Jay Gierak, Uber General Manager for the Central Valley.
The uberX passenger drop off is in front of the airport terminal similar to other motorists providing transportation to the airport. Drivers pick up passengers curbside at a designated area located between the front of the terminal and baggage claim.
Fresno Yosemite International Airport currently offers Valley passengers daily non-stop flights to Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Guadalajara, Mexico on domestic and international carriers. Fresno Yosemite International Airport is a municipally owned entity operating as a self-supporting enterprise. No City of Fresno general funds are used to operate Fresno Yosemite International Airport or Fresno Chandler Executive Airport.
