Iconic local brewery taproom opens for travelers this summer
Hebron, KY — Global restaurateur HMSHost, in partnership with Sheldon B. Poole of J.Q. Enterprises, Inc., brings the iconic Christian Moerlein Brewing Company to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) as part of a new eight-year contract valued at $17.7 million. This will be the first airport location for the Cincinnati-based brewery. Christian Moerlein Malt House Taproom will be located in CVG’s Concourse A and is scheduled to open summer 2018.
“HMSHost is proud to deliver travelers the best dining choices in the industry and we are excited to enhance the CVG traveler experience with this great local favorite,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Bryan Loden. “Christian Moerlein Brewing Company’s success began nearly two centuries ago and to this day continues to be a favorite across Greater Cincinnati. We are thrilled to work with the CVG team and our partner J.Q. Enterprises, Inc., to introduce Christian Moerlein to the millions of travelers that go through CVG each year.”
The Christian Moerlein Brewing Company opened in 1853 in Cincinnati. Today, the award-winning brewery operates The Malt House Taproom at its brewery in the heart of the Over-the-Rhine Brewery District. It celebrates Cincinnati’s brewing heritage, while growing a new generation of craft beer lovers that enjoy the time-tested traditions of matching freshly made beer with freshly made food.
Christian Moerlein Malt House Taproom at CVG will celebrate this rich heritage with its handcrafted brews and culinary creations. Travelers will enjoy an experience reminiscent of Cincinnati’s celebrated 19th century beer gardens and 21st century locally brewed Moerlein craft beer.
The full-service restaurant and bar will feature artwork and memorabilia that boasts the brewery’s long history. A mural of the original 1800s brewery complex will be featured along the length of the restaurant’s side wall. Guests will enjoy an unparalleled selection of award winning, freshly brewed Moerlein craft beers and more seasonal selections.
“We’re excited that passengers will get to experience the local flavors of Christian Moerlein Brewing Company when traveling CVG,” said Candace McGraw, CEO, CVG. “This addition will be another avenue to tell the story of our region’s unique brewing history to travelers around the world.”
To complement Christian Moerlein’s signature beers, travelers can feast on the namesake Taproom Burger, a range of sandwiches, and beertastic entrée options including a German Sausage Platter. Travelers with an early morning flight will be greeted with a selection of breakfast favorites. For added convenience, Christian Moerlein Malt House Taproom will feature a grab-and-go section so travelers can quickly purchase drinks and snacks to take with them on their flight.
In addition to the upcoming opening of Christian Moerlein Malt House Taproom, HMSHost will continue to operate existing traveler favorites at CVG including Outback Steakhouse, Chick-fil-A, and multiple Starbucks® store locations. A complete list of existing HMSHost-operated locations is available on the HMSHost location finder map.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
