The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that during November, 713,885 passengers traveled through Kansas City International Airport. This was an increase of 109.8 percent compared to November 2020. By comparison, the November 2021 passenger count was 21.5 percent less than November 2019. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 67.4 percent compared to last year with 6,946,223 total passengers handled, and down 36.0 percent from 2019 year-to-date figures.
Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 49.03 percent in November with a total of 23.1 million pounds handled. Year to date, 219.7 million pounds have been handled, up 22.7 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during November amounted to 22.9 million pounds, up 49.6 percent year-over-year. Year to date, air freight is up 23.5 percent with a total of 217.8 million pounds handled. Air mail for November was down 0.8 percent from November 2020 with 186,943 pounds handled. Air mail year to date for 2021 is down 31.8 percent from 2020 with 1.8 million pounds handled.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for November 2021 was 136. Service was offered to 43 nonstop markets. There was an average of 31,098 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 8 daily departures for November.
