The ABQ Sunport, operated by the City of Albuquerque, is the third largest unserved market to and from Reagan National Airport (DCA). Additionally, ABQ is the largest market with neither Dulles nor DCA nonstop air service. With the opening of five slot pairs allowing new service beyond the 1250-mile perimeter via the recent FAA reauthorization bill, airlines will have the opportunity to establish new non-stop flights to unserved markets like the ABQ Sunport. Recent data suggests there is a high demand for travel between ABQ and the Washington, DC area—with approximately 123 passengers daily each way travelling between ABQ and DCA.
“It is a top priority for the Sunport to provide residents of the Land of Enchantment more- direct access to our nation’s capital,” said City of Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller. “We intend to continue to prove how a direct route to the nation’s capital will highly benefit our community.”
Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
