CHICAGO, May 31, 2018 - Southwest Airlines today announced it will begin international service on weekends between Chicago Midway International Airport and Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos on November 4, 2018. This is a brand new destination from Midway that has not been served previously.
"This is great news for Midway airport and for travelers looking for convenient and easy travel options to this popular international destination during the winter months in Chicago," said Ginger S. Evans, Commissioner, Chicago Department of Aviation. "I want to thank Southwest Airlines for continuing to add exciting new international destinations served from Chicago Midway."
The new flights are scheduled to depart from Chicago Midway on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and arrive at Los Cabos International Airport at 1:10 p.m. Flights from Los Cabos will depart at 2:05 p.m. and arrive to Chicago at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available today at www.southwest.com.
The new service to Cabo supports Chicago in serving high-demand Latin American locations, as well as complements the airline's existing portfolio of international service from Midway to Cancun, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
It also marks the 19th international route to be added by Chicago's airports in 2018, enhancing the City's leading global connectivity. |

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
