Syracuse, New York –The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) announced today that Frontier Airlines will add additional service at Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR).
Beginning November 15, 2018 Frontier will begin nonstop service from SYR to Ft. Myers (RSW) and Tampa (TPA).
With the addition of Ft. Myers and Tampa, Frontier will have a total of six nonstop destinations since announcing in April that it would begin operating out of SYR. Frontier began nonstop service to Denver (DEN) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU) in July and will begin nonstop service to Orlando (MCO) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) later this month.
This news comes as traffic at the airport is up over 12% from the same period last year.
"The greater Syracuse community has embraced our Low Fares Done Right philosophy," said Richard Oliver, Spokesperson, Frontier Airlines. "We are proud to grow our commitment and bring even more low fares to the area, now with an additional two non-stop destinations. We appreciate the ongoing support of the airport and the community at large, and we're proud to serve Syracuse with some of the lowest fares in the industry and a great travel experience."
As a result of the recent air service announcements, SYR will have a record 23 nonstop destinations and seven airlines.
“We are thrilled to see Frontier expand their footprint in the Syracuse market with the addition of Ft. Myers and Tampa,” said Christina Callahan, Airport Director. “Clearly this market has responded strongly to all of the new service, proving ‘if you build it, they will come’. We look forward to Frontier’s continued success.”
The airport is also due to complete a major construction project on October 31, 2018.
