CHICAGO – February 13, 2020 - The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), in partnership with global restaurateur HMSHost, is calling all chefs – aspiring, connoisseur, or otherwise – from across the country to enter Channel Your Inner Chef competition at O’Hare International Airport.
O’Hare’s Terminal 2 has been home to this first-of-its-kind, live cooking competition for the past five years. This year, Channel Your Inner Chef is again offering aspiring chefs a platform to showcase their enthusiasm and cooking skills.
You don’t have to be a master chef to enter.
Submit a video of yourself preparing your favorite original recipe. Upload the video by February 17, 2020 to ChannelYourInnerChef.com.
Five finalists will be selected from the video entries and receive a trip to compete in a live cook-off in front of an audience and a panel of judges at O’Hare on March 24, 2020.
The unscripted, 30-minute cook-off presents finalists with the exciting challenge of creating an original recipe from a bounty of food ingredients available at the start of the event.
The winning dish will be featured on the menu of an O’Hare restaurant for passengers to sample and savor.
The grand prize winner also receives a VIP experience for two to the James Beard Awards Gala in Chicago on May 4, 2020, and two roundtrip airline tickets for a flight within the continental U.S.
Over the years, the unique competition has helped launch the careers of a diverse group of ambitious, up-and-coming chef talent – from a homemaker and culinary arts student to a local food blogger – and you could be next!

2022 Charlotte Douglas International Airport Report of Achievement
Giving back to the community is central to what Charlotte Douglas International Airport and its operator, the City of Charlotte Aviation Department, is about, and last year was no different.
Throughout 2022, while recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued our efforts to have a positive impact on the Charlotte community. Of particular note, we spent the year sharing stories of how Connections Don't Just Happen at the Terminal - from creating homeownership and employment opportunities to supporting economic growth through small-business development and offering outreach programs to help residents understand the Airport better.
This whitepaper highlights the construction projects, initiatives, programs and events that validate Charlotte Douglas as a premier airport.
