The Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners selected Lawrence Bennell to represent the airport’s southwest quadrant on the Noise Compatibility Committee (NCC) and Michael Bingaman to represent the airport’s southwest quadrant on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
A Naples resident for 14 years, Bennell is retired after more than 40 years as a professional pilot and Director of Aviation for a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Bennell’s years of experience and qualifications as a pilot involved with meeting noise compliance regulations at numerous noise sensitive airports throughout the US and Europe will provide important technical knowledge and insight to the committee.
Retired after 34 years as a flight attendant with Continental and United Airlines, Mr. Bingaman’s background in the aviation industry coupled with his involvement with local causes gives him the ability to step right into the TAC at a critical point in the noise study process. A resident of the Old Naples neighborhood Mr. Bingaman looks forward to working with the other TAC members and the public to evaluate and suggest reasonable solutions to benefit the community as a whole.
The Naples Airport Authority would like to thank Jim Gilligan and Ray Stricklen for their respective service on the NCC and TAC.
The NCC is comprised of nine citizen volunteers who help monitor the impact of aircraft noise and make recommendations about noise-mitigation procedures for consideration by the Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners. The members serve as volunteer representatives of the Collier County Commission, Naples City Council, general aviation pilots and six geographic areas surrounding the airport.
The TAC is made up of community volunteers representing the city, county and stakeholder groups. The role of the TAC is to provide technical input and feedback relative to the Part 150 Noise Study.
Home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies, and corporate aviation and non-aviation businesses, Naples Airport is also a central location for public services, including fire/rescue services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services. Naples Airport is ideally located within minutes of downtown Naples, the Gulf of Mexico and I-75.
All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or federal and state grants from aviation-related user fees. The airport receives no local tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s annual economic impact to the community at more than $440 million.

2022 Charlotte Douglas International Airport Report of Achievement
Giving back to the community is central to what Charlotte Douglas International Airport and its operator, the City of Charlotte Aviation Department, is about, and last year was no different.
Throughout 2022, while recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued our efforts to have a positive impact on the Charlotte community. Of particular note, we spent the year sharing stories of how Connections Don't Just Happen at the Terminal - from creating homeownership and employment opportunities to supporting economic growth through small-business development and offering outreach programs to help residents understand the Airport better.
This whitepaper highlights the construction projects, initiatives, programs and events that validate Charlotte Douglas as a premier airport.
