Syracuse, New York – The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) is aware of the new emergency health order that was announced today by Governor Cuomo. The new order will require travelers arriving from designated states with high rates of COVID-19 to provide their contact information upon arrival to SYR.
This emergency health order is a result of the COVID-19 Travel Advisory that went into effect at 12:01am on June 25, 2020, requiring travelers arriving from designated states with high community-wide spread of COVID-19, to enter into a 14-day self-quarantine.
“Although this order may be perceived as an inconvenience to visitors arriving in Syracuse, the airport is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment,” said Jason Terreri, Airport Director.
The airlines will distribute the New York Department of Health (NY DOH) form to all passengers arriving from the impacted states. Enforcement teams designated by New York State will meet arriving passengers at the gate to request proof of completion of the NY DOH traveler form. The new order states that those failing to provide this information are subject to a $2,000.00 fine and may be brought to a hearing and ordered to complete mandatory quarantine.
All inquiries regarding the emergency health order, the COVID-19 Travel Advisory, or the presence of designated New York State officials at the airport, should be directed to New York State.
