The openings mark Terminal 4’s Concourse A expansion, as part of the terminal’s redevelopment
Queens, New York – April 10, 2023 – JFKIAT – the operator of Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport – recently held a double ribbon cutting ceremony with SSP America and Hudson to celebrate the opening of Beacon Bar & Kitchen and Hudson in T4’s new Concourse A. The double ribbon cutting coincides with the Concourse A expansion, which was completed and opened earlier this year as part of the T4 redevelopment.
As part of the redevelopment, JFKIAT is reimagining its commercial offerings to introduce retail, food and beverage, and service concepts that are reflective of New York and offer a best-in-class experience for its customers. Earlier this year, Delta Air Lines consolidated its JFK flights at T4, which will bring passenger volumes to the terminal’s highest levels.
“The Beacon Bar & Kitchen and Hudson openings mark an exciting milestone in the transformation of T4, and we are proud to partner with both SSP America and Hudson to introduce new offerings to our travelers,” said Roel Huinink, President and CEO of JFKIAT. “We look forward to presenting additional concepts as more projects in this redevelopment come to fruition, and we look forward to our continued work with our partners to bring these significant improvements to life.”
Passengers will step into Beacon Bar & Kitchen and feel transported to the charming Northeastern coast of Long Island. From the lighthouse-inspired finishes to the décor that captures the breathtaking scenery of the region, the concept immerses travelers into the essence of the area. Its menu offers a blend of locally inspired dishes and beloved passenger favorites. With efficient order-at-the-table QR code and self-ordering kiosk technology, SSP America ensures speedy service while putting passengers in control of their experience.
SSP America’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Svagdis commented, “The Beacon Bar & Kitchen concept is a great example of our focus on bringing a ‘taste of place’ to the T4 passengers. T4 is a special terminal not just because it’s one of the biggest gateways to the United States, but because of the community the IAT team, Delta Air Lines, and partners have built. Our passionate team of food travel experts look forward to doing all we can to support the expansion, redevelopment, and ongoing initiatives.”
Designed with a seamless customer experience at its core, Hudson is North America’s largest travel essentials and convenience brand. This location for Hudson will provide travelers at T4 with a diverse array of both globally recognized brands and local products, and a wide selection of essentials for guests to choose from. Offerings include local products from Reisman’s Bakery, Sweet Sam’s Baking Company, Brooklyn Bites, Hal’s New York, North Fork Potato Chips, among others. Self-checkout is also available for a quick checkout experience.
“Hudson is thrilled to expand our presence in Terminal 4 and give travelers the best travel essentials, electronics, and local products in our new store,” said Brian Quinn, Executive Vice President and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Hudson. “We thank our partners at JFKIAT for the opportunity to continue to elevate the traveler experience and deliver retail offerings worthy of one of the most iconic cities in the world.”

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
