First of 55,000+ Dump Truck Loads Deposited into 50-Foot Depression Near Terminal
Terminal Apron and Taxilane Expansion Project Will Accommodate Future Expansion
NASHVILLE – The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) today deposited the first of more than 55,000 dump truck loads of material into a 50-foot depression adjacent to the airport terminal, a project that is vital to future expansion at Nashville International Airport (BNA).
The terminal apron and taxilane project is part of BNA Vision, the airport’s growth and expansion plan. Once the project is complete, the airport will gain more than 13 acres of surface area, which is needed to build a state-of-the-art International Arrivals Facility (IAF) and accommodate larger aircraft typically used for international travel. Construction of the IAF will begin in 2019, and it will open in 2023.
The terminal apron and taxilane project will be implemented in two phases:
In addition to the terminal apron and taxilane project, BNA Vision projects currently underway include the airport’s new Parking and Transportation Center, which will open this fall, and the Concourse D and terminal wings expansion, which will be completed in 2020.
As with all other airport capital improvement projects, no local tax dollars will be used to fund BNA Vision. Take a virtual 360-degree tour, view renderings and watch the BNA Vision video at BNAVision.com.
Phase one design of the terminal apron and taxilane expansion project is by Garver, and the general contractor is Eutaw Construction. The contract for phase two has not yet been awarded.
BNA is currently served by 14 airlines and offers 450 daily flights. Nashville International Airport provides nonstop air service to more than 65 destinations.
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) was established in 1970, and owns and operates Nashville International Airport (BNA) and John C. Tune Airport (JWN). PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
