ORLANDO, FL. – The rebound has begun at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Traffic is now up 25 percentage points from its lowest level in April when the effects of COVID-19 dramatically impacted airport operations. For the month, overall traffic was down a stunning 96.4 percent compared to a year earlier.
“Our path to rebuilding passenger confidence and traffic includes continued intensified cleaning, social distancing and the use of face coverings by all employees and travelers,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “With a number of airlines already committed to re-establishing their schedules, we are cautiously optimistic our slow recovery is sustainable.”
To better draw the comparison between this year and last year, MCO averaged 5,747 passengers a day for the month of April. Last year, MCO averaged 144,740 passengers per day or 6,031 passengers per hour. MCO processed more passengers in an hour last year than for an entire day this year.
The only bright spot for MCO came from cargo traffic, which was up 4.13 percent, thanks in part to a 47 percent increase in mail deliveries in April.
April 2020 Statistical Data:
For the first time since March 22, MCO peaked with over 20,000 departing passengers on Monday, June 22.
PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
